Bruce Kent currently serves as Vice President on the KBA Board of Governors. He is a past president of the KBF and served on its Scholarship Committee. In addition, Kent has been actively involved in KBA sections, including serving as president of the Tax Law Section; Corporation, Banking, and Business Law Section; and Employment Law Section; a past member of the Real Estate, Probate, and Trust Law Section; and co-originator of the Agricultural Law Section. Kent served as vice chair of the CLE Committee and served on the Ethics Advisory Committee; was co-originator of the Plaza Lights Institute; was the originator and ongoing coordinator of the Slam-Dunk CLE between the KBA and Kansas State University Foundation. Kent currently serves as a member of the Law-Related Education Committee. In 2004, Kent received the Outstanding Service Award.

Kent received his law degree from Washburn University School of Law in 1970, where he was student body president and a member of the Law Review. In 1973, he received his Master of Laws in taxation from the University of Miami.

Kent spent 25 years with the law firm of Ryan, Kent, Wichman and Walters, with offices in Hays and Norton. Among his endeavors, he has served as senior counsel for the IRS in Austin, chief counsel for the Department of Human Resources for the state of Kansas, regional administrator of the Small Business Administration in Kansas City, and legal counsel for the Kansas State University Foundation.
