Professor David Pierce, Washburn University School of Law, Topeka
Professor Pierce will examine subsurface trespass issues associated with oil and gas development. He will discuss the law governing the cross-boundary migration of injectants associated with operations for: waste disposal, enhanced recovery, carbon sequestration, gas storage, and hydraulic fracturing. Also examined are easement and trespass issues associated with well bore placement and the Texas Supreme Court’s controversial decision in Lightning Oil Co. v. Anadarko E&P Onshore LLC.
