The presentation will provide a general overview of the National Task Force on Attorney Well-Being’s Report and the current efforts being undertaken by the Kansas Task Force on Attorney Well-Being to implement the recommendations contained in the National Report. In addition, the program will discuss specific steps attorneys can take to control their practice and promote their own well-being.

This program will discuss how an attorney’s ethical obligations apply in a world of ever-expanding technology, rampant use of social media, and cybersecurity threats. Specifically, the presentation will discuss the ethical implications of such common social media platforms, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat. Additionally, the program will discuss how lawyers have an ethical duty to be informed regarding the benefits and risks associated with relevant technology, including the use of messaging applications, such as Confide. Among other ethical rules, there will be a discussion regarding Rule 1.1 (Competence); Rule 1.6; (Confidentiality); Rule 3.4 (Fairness to Opposing Party), Rule 4.4 (Rights of Third Persons), and Rules 7.1, 7.2, and 7.3.
