The presentation will begin with a brief overview of the role and history of the Standards for Title Examinations Committee, and its main work, the Kansas Title Standards Handbook. The presentation will then focus on notable revisions and changes found in the newly-released 8th Edition of the Handbook.

Kyle J. Mead, Lawyers Title of Topeka, Topeka

Kyle J. Mead is Vice-President and Chief Examining Attorney for Lawyers Title of Topeka, Inc., and its related companies, Premier Title of Kansas, Inc. and Wabaunsee County Title, Inc.  Since March 2018, he has served as Manager of Exchange Intermediary LLC, a 1031 exchange qualified intermediary.  Mr. Mead has been an official member of the KBA Title Standards Committee since 2016. He replaced his late employer and mentor, Hayden B. St. John, whom he had shadowed on the committee over the years.  Mr. Mead joined Lawyers Title in 2002 after five years in law firm practice.  His private practice experience included the areas of real estate, family law, probates and estates, banking law, collections and civil litigation.  Mr. Mead is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana, and an honors graduate of the Washburn School of Law.  He has written and presented on title insurance and closing issues to attorneys, law students, real estate agents, and lenders.
