12:00 PM Advising Healthcare Providers During Medicare Audits
Richelle Marting, Forbes Law Group, Overland Park, KS
One of the scariest letters a healthcare provider can receive is a letter from Medicare notifying the provider they are about to be audited. Sometimes, though, the provider doesn’t even know a formal audit is taking place or what the impact could be to them and to their practice. This session will discuss several different types of audits healthcare providers could face, and a description of how providers may be selected for each and the implications on a provider’s practice. The Medicare audit appeal process will be identified, with discussion of key challenges often faced during this process and how attorneys can best advise their healthcare provider clients through those obstacles.
