This course will provide attendees with an up-to-date list of all legislative proposals that affect the practice of law in Kansas. The update will briefly explain pending legislation, provide background information pertaining to the interest group involved in the legislation and a provide the current status of each proposal. Attendees can expect to learn more about the legislative process and as well as how to contact their representative.

As solo and small firm practitioners, it is important to stay informed of ethical implications for our practice. In this presentation, attorneys will learn about the rule changes made by the ABA to rule 1.6 and discuss how that can impact their practice standards. Next, attorneys will learn about KRPC rules related to marketing their firms online and how to have an online presence within the scope of the professional rules. Also, attorneys will learn about ethical considerations for outsourcing parts of their practices as they want to focus more on the important part of client interaction. And, finally, attorneys will learn about maintaining the integrity of the profession through scenarios and rule discussion points.
