Wichitan Linda Parks Installed as Kansas Bar Association President

(July 3, 2007) Topeka, KS—Linda S. Parks, Wichita, has been installed as president of the Kansas Bar Association (KBA) at a KBA Board of Governors meeting held last month in Wichita, Kansas. She succeeds David J. Rebein, Dodge City, who completed a one-year term as president of the organization.

"I am honored to be given an opportunity to work with a great board of governors and hard-working KBA staff," said Parks. "I look forward to continuing a 125-year tradition of service to the community and profession."

A partner in the law firm of Hite, Fanning and Honeyman L.L.P., Parks practices in the areas of bankruptcy and business transactions. She received her B.A., summa cum laude, in political science from Washburn University in 1979 and her J.D. from the Washburn University School of Law in 1983.

She has served on the KBA Board of Governors since 1999 when she was appointed as the KBA Delegate to the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates. Parks served in this position until 2005, served as the KBA’s Vice President in 2005-06, and president-elect in 2006-07.

Parks is a Gold Fellow of the Kansas Bar Foundation and is a member of the KBA Raising the Bar and Law-Related Education committees as well as the Ethics Grievance Panel. She also is a member of the Wichita Bar Association and the Kansas Women Attorneys Association where she was a founding member and was the organization’s first president. She is active with numerous charitable and civic organizations and currently serves on the board of the Wichita YWCA and Wichita Greyhound Charities Inc.
