Kansas Bar Foundation and Kansas Bar Association Assists FEMA Designated Disaster Area Victims
(July 10, 2007) Topeka, Kan.—In response to the recent disasters in Kansas, the Kansas Bar Association (KBA) and its philanthropic arm, the Kansas Bar Foundation (KBF), have developed important public service initiatives to help local residents in need.
Storm victims who have been are located in any of the active FEMA declared disaster areas that may need legal assistance should call the KBA’s Lawyer Referral Service at (800) 928-3111 between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (CDST) Monday - Friday. Callers must identify they are seeking storm-related legal pro bono representation.
Citizens who may have legal problems such as re-establishing identities, employment and estate matters, or filing insurance claims, are encouraged to call.
“The attorneys who are members of the Kansas Bar Association and the Kansas Bar Foundation are donating their time and money to assist the legal communities located in these disaster areas. Our hearts go out to the many victims in these difficult times.” said KBA president Linda Parks.
The KBA and KBF would like to thank Kansas Legal Services, Inc. and the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association for their assistance with the relief efforts.
