Kansas Bar Association Elects Officers for 2006-07
(July 27, 2006) Topeka, KSDavid J. Rebein, Dodge City, has been elected to serve as the president of the Kansas Bar Association (KBA) for 2006-07. His one-year term of office will run until June 2007. Rebein is a partner in the firm of Rebein Bangerter PA. Rebein received his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1980 and has been a member of the KBA Board of Governors since 1997, serving as a District 9 representative from 1997-2004, vice president in 2004-05, and president-elect in 2005-06.
Linda S. Parks, Wichita, has been elected to serve as the president-elect of the Kansas Bar Association for 2006-07. She is a managing partner with Hite, Fanning and Honeyman LLP. A KBA member since 1983, Parks served on the KBA Board of Governors as a delegate to the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates from 1999-2005, and served as vice-president from 2005-2006. Parks earned her J.D., cum laude, from Washburn University School of Law in 1983.
Ernest C. Ballweg has been elected to serve as the vice president of the Kansas Bar Association for 2006-07. Ballweg, Overland Park, is a private practitioner with Johnston, Ballweg and Tuley L.C. Ballweg has been an active member of the KBA since 1969, previously serving on the KBA Board of Governors, and remains an active member of the Legislative Committee. Ballweg received his J.D. from the University of Kansas in 1969.
Thomas E. Wright was elected to serve as the 2006-07 secretary-treasurer of the Kansas Bar Association. Wright is a partner in the Topeka law firm of Wright, Henson, Clark, Hutton, Mudrick & Gragson. Wright was a member of the KBA Board of Governors from 1998 to 2005, serving as a District 5 representative, and has been a member of the KBA since 1964. Wright received his J.D. from Washburn University School of Law.
Hon. Paul T. Davis, Lawrence, will be serving as the 2006-07 Young Lawyers Section President. Davis is a partner with the law firm of Meyer & Davis, L.L.C. and also serves as the Kansas State Representative for the 46th District. He received his J.D. from Washburn University School of Law in 1998 and prior to serving in the Kansas Legislature, Rep. Davis was the Legislative Counsel for the Kansas Bar Association.
Hon. David J. Waxse, Kansas City, Kan., was elected to his third term as a KBA Delegate to the American Bar Association House of Delegates for 2006-2007. Judge Waxse is a U.S. magistrate judge in Kansas City, Kan. and a past president of the Kansas Bar Association. He has served on the KBA Board of Governors since 1988 and has been a member of the KBA since 1971, after receiving his J.D. from Columbia University.
