Kansas Bar Foundation Announces Officers and Trustees for 2006-2007
(September 1, 2006) Topeka, KSThe following individuals have been elected to serve as officers and trustees on the Kansas Bar Foundation (KBF) Board of Trustees.
Officers
Sally D. Pokorny, was elected to serve as the president of the Kansas Bar Foundation for 2006-2007. Pokorny is an Of counsel member in the Law Offices of David J. Brown in Lawrence practicing in the areas of criminal defense and domestic law. Pokorny received her J.D. from the Washburn University School of Law in 1978. A member of the Kansas Bar Association (KBA) since 1978, Pokorny has served on the KBF Board of Trustees since 1999, serving as district three trustee from 1999-2005, secretary-treasurer from 2004-2005, and president-elect from 2005-2006.
Bruce W. Kent, Manhattan, is the Counsel for Gift Planning for the Kansas State University Foundation and was elected to serve as the 2006-2007 president-elect of the Kansas Bar Foundation. He has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2002, serving as the district six trustee and serving as the KBF secretary-treasurer from 2005-2006. Kent received his J.D. from the Washburn University School of Law in 1970.
Sarah (Sally) Bootes Shattuck has been elected to serve as the 2006-2007 secretary-treasurer of the Kansas Bar Foundation. Shattuck is a sole practitioner in Ashland and practices in the areas of real estate and probate. In addition to her practice, Shattuck is also the city attorney for the cities of Ashland and Englewood. She received her J.D. from the Washburn University School of Law in 1979 and has been serving as an At Large member of the KBF Board of Trustees since 2001.
Trustees
Daniel H. Diepenbrock, Liberal, was elected to the District 9 Representative seat on the KBF Board of Trustees for a two-year term ending in 2008. A civil litigation attorney and a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Law, Diepenbrock is a partner in the firm of Miller & Diepenbrock, P.A.
James C. Dodge, was elected to serve as an At Large trustee of the Kansas Bar Foundation for 2006-2007. Dodge practices with the law firm of Sharp McQueen McKinley McQueen & Dodge, P.A. in its Sublette office. Dodge received his J.D. from the Washburn University School of Law in 1998.
Vaughn Burkholder, Overland Park, is a partner with the firm of Foulston Siefkin LLP, and was elected to serve as the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel Representative on the KBF Board of Trustees. Burkholder received his J.D. from the Creighton University School of Law and specializes in employment law.
Katherine L. Kirk, Lawrence, was elected to serve as the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association Representative on the KBF Board of Trustees for a two-year term ending in 2008. Kirk is a graduate of the Washburn University School of Law and practices in the areas of personal injury, professional malpractice and mediation with the Law Offices of Jerry K. Levy.
Edward J. Nazar, Wichita, is a partner in the law firm Redmond & Nazar, L.L.P., and was elected to serve as a 2006-07 KBA Representative on the KBF Board of Trustees. A graduate of the Washburn University School of Law, Nazar specializes in creditor’s rights and bankruptcy law.
Christopher J. Masoner, Kansas City, Mo., is an associate with the law firm of Blackwell, Sanders, Peper and Martin LLP, practicing in real estate law. Masoner was elected to a one-year term as the KBA Young Lawyers Section Representative for 2006-07. He received his J.D. from Wake Forest University in 1997.

Founded in 1957, the Kansas Bar Foundation is the charitable and philanthropic arm of the Bar. The KBF administers the Kansas Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA) program and also owns the Kansas Law Center, which serves as the Kansas Bar Association headquarters at 1200 S.W.
