(June 13, 2003) Topeka, KSLaura L. Ice, Wichita, was elected for a second term as the secretary-treasurer of the Kansas Bar Association's (KBA) 2003-2004 Board of Governors by the association's membership.
Ice is assistant general counsel at Cessna Finance Corporation (CFC) in Wichita. Prior to joining CFC, she was in private practice in Wichita with the Adams & Jones law firm. She is the 2002 recipient of the KBA's Outstanding Achievement Award and currently serves on the Washburn University School of Law Association Board of Governors. She is a Fellow of the Kansas Bar Foundation and has served on the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of the Golden Plains.
She received her J.D. from the Washburn University School of Law, passed the bar in 1984, and has served on the KBA Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Committee since 1995. She was chair of the CLE Committee's Long-Range Planning and Annual Meeting subcommittees.
She has served on the KBA's Annual Meeting, Professionalism, Equality, and Member Benefits committees. She has written an article for The Journal of the Kansas Bar Association and has organized and spoken at seminars.
Ice has served on the Board of Governors and as vice-president of the Wichita Bar Association (WBA). She has chaired the WBA Law in Education Program and Judges' Day committees and was the editor of The WBA Barometer.
She has been co-regional coordinator for the Kansas Women Attorneys Association (KWAA), has been active in organizing KWAA's annual conferences, and chaired the 2002 event.
