(June 10, 2003) Topeka, KSThe Kansas Bar Association (KBA) presented KBA member James M. Concannon, Topeka, with an Outstanding Service Award. Concannon was honored at an awards luncheon on June 9 in Wichita for his commitment to the legal profession in Kansas.
Concannon received his law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1971, Order of the Coif, ranking second in his class. He joined the faculty of the Washburn University School of Law in 1973, serving as dean from 1988 to 2001. His primary teaching responsibilities are in the areas of evidence, civil procedure, appellate practice, and legislation. He is an active member of the KBA, having served for more than 20 years on the Continuing Legal Education Committee; was chair of the KBA Law in Education and Public Information committees; and was a member of the Commission on Professionalism, Equality, and Quality and Specialization committees.
The Outstanding Service Award is given for the purpose of recognizing lawyers and judges for service to the legal profession and/or the Kansas Bar Association and for recognizing nonlawyers for especially meritorious deeds or service that significantly advance the administration of justice or the goals of the legal profession and/or the KBA.
