Jim Clark Named Kansas Bar Association Legislative Counsel

(September 5, 2003) Topeka, KS—Jim Clark, Lawrence, has been appointed legislative counsel of the KBA. Clark was formerly an assistant attorney general for the office of the Kansas State Fire Marshal in Topeka.

“Jim has a strong background in legislative advocacy, along with a wealth of association management experience,” said Dennis Harwick, KBA executive director.

Prior to working for the Kansas State Fire Marshal, Clark was employed with the Kansas County and District Attorneys Association as executive director (1981-1999), was county attorney of Franklin County (1977-1981), and was in solo practice in Ottawa (1975-1981). Clark is a current member of the American, Kansas, and Topeka bar associations. He has served as president of the Kansas Society of Association Executives and on the Board of Directors for the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Clark received his bachelor's degree from Kansas State Teachers College (now Emporia State University) and his law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law.

“It is an honor to serve as legislative counsel for the KBA,” said Clark. “I look forward to working with various committees and individual members for many years to come.”

Clark succeeds Paul Davis, who left the KBA in July to join a private practice in Lawrence.
