Kansas Bar Association Schedules Emporia Presentations on Diversity in Kansas Law
(April 29, 2003) Topeka, KSL.J. Buckner, a partner at Lathrop and Gage, one of Kansas City's largest and most prestigious law firms, will meet with students at Emporia High School, Emporia Middle School, and a 6th Grade class at Lowther North school on Tuesday, April 29, 2003, to talk with students about what kind of legal careers are available in Kansas and what kind of preparation students who are interested a legal career should consider. In particular, Mr. Buckner will emphasize the need for ethnic and racial diversity in the legal profession.
Mr. Buckner is a member of the Kansas Bar Association's Diversity Committee. He grew up in Topeka, where he attended Hayden High School. He received his undergraduate degree at KU, before attending the prestigious Yale Law School.
Mr. Buckner will appear at Emporia High School at 9:40 a.m. through the assistance of counselor Ron Ferman. He will then appear at Robbie Hill's 6th Grade class at Lowther North School at 11:10 a.m., followed by an appearance at 1:06 p.m. at Emporia Middle School arranged by counselor Bonnie Jasso.
