The KBA and Kansas Legal Services Win National Award
for Superior Public Service Programs
(November 10, 2003) Topeka, KSThe American Bar Association's (ABA) Standing Committee on Lawyer Referral and Information Services has chosen the Kansas Bar Association (KBA), in conjunction with Kansas Legal Services, as the 2003 recipient of the Cindy A. Raisch Award for superior service in public service Lawyer Referral and Information Programs.
The award was presented to Roseann Hiebert, director of the KBA Lawyer Referral Service, during the National Lawyer Referral Service Workshop in Denver, Colo., in October.
The national award, which is the ABA's highest award for lawyer referral services, was created in 1996 to honor an innovator and national leader in the quest to improve the quality of service provided to moderate income consumers. The 2003 award recognizes the collaborative efforts between the KBA Lawyer Referral Service and the Kansas Legal Service Lawyer Advice Line.
The KBA Lawyer Referral Service has been granted permission to use the ABA logo because of its compliance with the ABA standards in certifying lawyer referral services. The Lawyer Referral Service is a public service designed to assist moderate income individuals with legal problems find the right attorney. For a referral to a Kansas attorney, call 1-800-928-3111 (outside of Wichita) or 316-265-1247 (in Wichita). Also available is the Lawyer Advice Line, a service for those who need limited legal advice by telephone for a fee. Their website is located at
