American Business Women’s Association Career Chapter of Topeka will recognize the Honorable Christel E. Marquardt as the 2014 Woman of Distinction at the 32nd Annual Scholarship Luncheon on March 11, 2014, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Sunflower Ballroom in the Maner Conference Center.
Marquardt served as a Kansas Court of Appeals judge for over 17 years. She was born in Chicago and spent her formative years on a farm in Crete, Ill., however, she has been proud to call Kansas her home for 43 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1970 and her JD in 1974 from Washburn University School of Law. She has served numerous organizations, including the Kansas Bar Association where she was the first woman president and has continued to serve on their Board of Governors for 31 years.
The Career Chapter’s ABWA Scholarship Luncheon has raised over $300,000 in scholarship funds for women pursuing degrees at Washburn University and the Washburn Institute of Technology over the past 32 years.
