NOTICE OF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Classification and Salary:                   Assistant Counsel

                                                            $65,000 to $75,000 dependent on experience

                                                           

 

Job Duties: Work involves assisting the special counsel to the chief justice of the Kansas Supreme Court in planning and organizing the Kansas judicial branch’s legislative program and acting as liaison between the legislature and the court system, plus additional administrative duties as assigned. The incumbent makes recommendations to the special counsel on legislative changes, prepares and presents testimony to legislative committees, and monitors legislative action.   Work is performed with some latitude for professional judgment within the policy frameworks set by the chief justice, and is reviewed by the special counsel through reports, conferences, and results achieved.

 

Required Licensure and Abilities:  Admission to the Kansas Bar, familiarity with the Kansas court system and legal procedure, ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, and experience working with the legislative process.
