Kansas City attorney and KBA lifetime member Gene Balloun celebrated his 1,000th pro bono adoption last week. This adoption was featured on the front page of Sunday's edition of the Kansas City Star.
Balloun and his firm, Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP have helped to establish a scholarship fund exclusively for those who have been in the foster care system in the state of Kansas. For 13 years, the fund has provided $625,000 to nearly 500 students.
