Survey FAQs

Q: What information is being collected?
A: The Kansas Bar Association, with the Applied Statistics Laboratory (ASL) of Ann Arbor, Michigan (a neutral third-party research firm), is developing an updated report on the economics of law practice, which will give you access to current vital information on attorney incomes, staffing ratios, overhead costs, attorney and staff billing rates and practices, total billable hours, law school debt burdens, marketing, legal research and technology embracing and more.

Q: Must I answer every question?
A: No. Some questions are not applicable. For some questions, you might not know the answer. Please be as thorough as possible to enable statistically valid reporting.

Q: Can I go offline and then come back online to complete the survey later?
A: YesYou may close the survey and return to it to finish the questions at a later time. Be sure to click on the NEXT button at the bottom of the page to save your answers to that point.  Upon completion of the entire survey, be sure to click the SUBMIT button on the last page of the survey.  Please note: you must start and complete the survey from the same computer.

Q: Will my confidentiality be assured if I enter the drawing for survey completers?
A: Absolutely.  You need only enter your name (or a made-up name) and a phone number or e-mail address.  ASL will maintain that info in a database separate from the other survey responses. ASL will randomly generate the winner. So don't leave out some contact info if you want to be eligible for the prize.  (Please do not send in multiple surveys.  You may only enter the drawing once.)

Q: Who should I contact for help?
A: Please contact Applied Statistics Laboratory at aslinfo@aol.com or by phone at (734) 417-5151 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday - Saturday, Kansas time.
