Basic Auto Insurance 101. February 22, 2008. (4126) Practitioners new to the field of automobile insurance law will learn basic insurance law issues affecting most automobile accident cases. The presentation dissects a standard automobile insurance policy, discussing the legal implications of each clause and providing definitions and explanations critical to evaluating and litigating an automobile insurance case. Subjects included are general principles of automobile insurance, liability insurance, uninsured/underinsured motorist insurance coverage, personal injury protection (PIP) insurance and related issues. Mr. Fisher will provide participants with practical suggestions regarding how to evaluate an insurance policy in the context of pending litigation and outline Kansas statues, regulations and case law affecting these issues. He will conclude with a discussion of the most frequent mistakes made in automobile insurance cases and provide advice to avoid an ethical misstep. Mr. Fisher will reference current cases and decisions, as well as Kansas Automobile Insurance Law, which he recently authored. |
