We will discuss the importance of building and maintaining core ethical strengths, suggest ways to do that and examine some related disciplinary cases.

Anne McDonald, Kansas Lawyers Assistance Program, Topeka
Anne  graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1982. She was in private practice before being appointed Court Trustee in Wyandotte County. She retired from there in 2006 and served as a judge pro tem in District and Municipal Court in Wyandotte County. She was appointed to the Lawyers Assistance Program Commission when it began in 2001, and she has served as the Executive Director of KALAP since 2009. McDonald has also served as a CLE presenter on child support and lawyers assistance topics around the state.



Whitney Casemont, Goodell, Stratton, Edmonds & Palmer LLP., Topeka
Whitney is an Associate at Goodell, Stratton, Edmonds & Palmer, L.L.P. in Topeka. Whitney’s practice focuses primarily on workers compensation, employment law, administrative law, and professional licensure actions. Graduating from Washburn Law School in 2012, Whitney started her legal career as an Assistant Attorney General with the Office of the Kansas Attorney General. She is currently the President of the Women Attorneys Association of Topeka and co-chair of the Membership and Communications Committee for the Kansas Women Attorneys Association. She also serves on the Board of Communities in Schools of Mid-America, facilitates a weekly meditation group for attorneys in Topeka coaching and refereeing children's basketball, and mentors women at Topeka Correctional Facility. 



Daniel A. Casement, Stormont Vail Healthcare, Topeka
Daniel Casement is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker, currently employed at Stormont Vail Healthcare in Topeka. Professionally, Daniel has 10 years working with children and families living in and around the Shawnee County area. He also has years of practice providing individual and intensive group therapy with adults. Those that know Daniel quickly discover that his most valued therapeutic intervention is a yellow Labrador named Magnolia. Magnolia is a certified facility from KSDS in Washington, Kansas. Whitney and Daniel are also raising an assistance puppy in training,named Gardetto, who will hopefully graduate on to serving a person with a disability or as a facility dog.



Magnolia is a beautiful yellow Labrador Retriever. She goes to work with Daniel at Stormont Vail Healthcare about 4 days a week to work with his clients in group therapy.
