To print a “clean” (without the Casemaker toolbar icons, etc.) list of your search results or individual documents directly from Casemaker, or single and dual column printing from Word or Word Perfect, start with the purple “print doc list” icon.
Printing Directly from Casemaker:
To print a clean list of your search results directly from Casemaker, use the purple “print doc list” icon located in the gray “Casemaker Web Library” toolbar at the top of every Casemaker page. Clicking this icon removes the Casemaker toolbar and gives you a clean results page. From this page, simply choose “File” and then “Print” from your Web browser to print the document to your printer.
The same can be done for individual documents. Select the link to the document you want to print, bringing up the full text of the document. Select the purple “print doc” icon and then print from your browser.
Single Column Printing from Word or Word Perfect:
- Pull up the case you want to print.
- Click on the purple “print doc” icon near the top of the page. This will strip out graphics, etc., to give you a clean copy of the case.
- Hold down the <CTRL> key and <a> together. This will highlight all the text of the opinion so you copy it all at once. (Think of the <a> as representing “all.”)
- Hold down the <CTRL> key and <c> together. Although your screen won’t change, this will place the text on the “clipboard.” (Think of the <c> as representing “copy.”)
- Open up a new blank document in Word or Word Perfect.
- Hold down the <CTRL> key and <p> together. (Think of the <p> as representing “paste.”) This will paste the text of the opinion into your Word or Word Perfect document.
Alternately, you can click on “Edit” and then “Paste Special” and then choose “Unformatted Text.” This will paste the text of the opinion into your Word or Word Perfect document. (If you don’t see “Paste Special” as a choice, click on the down arrows to expand the menu of choices.)
Dual Column Printing from Word or Word Perfect:
In Word:
Follow Steps 1 – 6 above, then
- Choose “Format” then “Columns” then choose “Two.” (Or you may click on the icon that looks like two columns of text.)
In WordPerfect:
Follow Steps 1 – 6 above, then
- Hold down <CTRL> <home> together. This will move your cursor from the bottom of the document to the top.
- Now choose “Format” then “Columns” then choose “Two.” (Or you may click on the icon that looks like columns of text and then choose two columns.)
