The KBA Ethics opinions have been added to the Casemaker Library. There are two ways to search the Ethics Opinions: Browse mode and Search mode.

Browse mode allows you to peruse the library by year and then by opinion number; for example, clicking Browse will bring up a list of hyperlinks by year; clicking on 1988 brings up the list of opinions for that year.

Search mode allows you to enter search criteria in the same way that you search other books in the Casemaker library. Note that you do not enter the full year in the search fields (e.g. “1988); rather you would change the drop down menu “Year to Search” to 1988 and then type 88-1 or 88-2, etc., in the Opinion # search box (see Example 1).

You can also use the Full Document Search Query and enter your search terms; remember to use quote marks around your phrase if you are looking for the exact phrase (see Example 2).

If you do not know the Year to Search, leave the menu to “All Years” and enter your Search criteria in the Full Document Search Query field.

If you do know the year, choose it from the Year to Search drop down menu AND enter your search criteria in the Full Document Search Query field.
