Searching using Abbreviations and Initials

Abbreviations: If you enter periods after abbreviations you may receive the error message, No documents matching your search query could be found. For example, if you search for “K.S.U.” or “K.U.” you will not get any results. Instead, you need to search for “Kansas State University” or “Kansas University” and include other search criteria pertinent to your case to narrow down your list of results, e.g., “Kansas State University” and “Rinke” will return two results. However, this can become confusing if you are searching for a person’s initials.

Initials: Although many cases, especially those regarding minor children, use initials with periods, you will need to include other search criteria. For example, if you type "IN RE ADOPTION OF S.A.M." you will not get any results; however, if you type "IN RE ADOPTION OF S.A.M." and "minor child" it will return the exact case.
